Battles happen on the streets, not on a separate screen. You move, dodge and aim while your partner fights.

Combat

Moves on cooldowns, not turns

Use melee hits, dashes, projectiles, beams and area attacks you can see coming. The full 18-type chart applies, plus STAB, crits and status effects.

Use the virtual joystick, tap your moves, and roll to dodge.

Sneak up. Throw.

Throw Poké Balls in real time. A back strike on an unaware Pokémon gives the best catch rate. Big red-eyed Alphas hit hard.

Each starter has a Z-A Mega form: Grass/Fairy Meganium, Fire/Fighting Emboar or Water/Dragon Feraligatr.

Pick one of three

Chikorita, Tepig or Totodile starts with you at Hotel Z. From there you have 121 species to catch, level up and evolve, with a party of six and a PC Box for the rest.
